The Opportunity

A a full-service US law firm is seeking a high-caliber Associate with 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience to join its expanding Finance practice in Singapore.

This is a strategic growth role within a premier international platform, offering a unique dual-focus practice. The successful candidate will split their time equally between general corporate banking and high-stakes asset finance. You will work on sophisticated cross-border mandates, advising a blue-chip client base of global financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and major asset owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Banking: Drafting and negotiating documentation for syndicated and bilateral lending, leveraged finance, and complex multi-currency facilities.

  • Asset Finance: Leading transactions involving the financing, leasing, and acquisition of high-value assets, with a primary focus on the maritime sector.

  • Cross-Border Coordination: Collaborating with the firm’s Hong Kong and regional offices to deliver seamless advice on multi-jurisdictional finance structures.

  • Practice Growth: Supporting the partners in business development initiatives and helping to scale the firm’s footprint in the Asia-Pacific finance market.

The Candidate

  • Qualified Lawyer: 3–6 years of PQE gained within an international, or leading domestic finance practice. Qualifications in Singapore, England & Wales, or Auz are preferred.

  • Finance Generalist: A strong technical foundation in general banking law is essential. While prior experience in asset finance is highly desirable, the firm is open to training a versatile banking lawyer with a desire to diversify.

  • Technical Excellence: Exceptional drafting skills and the ability to manage complex, document-intensive transactions with precision.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: As this is a growth role, a proactive mindset and the ability to take on significant responsibility in a lean, high-performance team are crucial.

  • Client Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a key point of contact for sophisticated institutional clients.

  • Language: fluent Mandarin will be advantageous.
